KACS’ milestones – one step closer to a new home

March 6, 2024

Kennett Township Board of Supervisors approved two motions regarding the KACS new building project. The first motion granted a waiver of any traffic impact fees typically associated with a traffic impact assessment. This waiver will save KACS $60,000-$75,000.

The second motion approved the Kennett Area Community Service Land Development application as a Preliminary/Final Land Development Plan subject to several conditions related to unresolved comments from the Kennett Township engineer as well as any open comments that may remain from the Conditional Use Approval of July 5, 2023.

During the presentation, the Kennett Township Supervisors unanimously praised KACS’ work to strengthen the community, viewing the Traffic Impact Fee waiver as an investment rather than a loss of revenue for the township. Waiving these and other fees is a more effective means of supporting organizations like KACS than outright grants of smaller cash amounts.

KACS’s new property spans two townships, Kennett and New Garden Townships. Last year, New Garden Township approved a motion to waive permit fees for their portion of the property.

KACS applauds the historic, impactful decisions made by Kennett and New Garden Townships, working together to build a healthier community for everyone. As municipal leaders, these Supervisors deserve recognition for embracing their civic duties and helping resolve issues that plague a significant segment of our population that is frequently overlooked – until now.

Leah M. Reynolds, M.S.P.L., said, “Southern Chester County is fortunate to have strong community leaders in Kennett and New Garden Townships. Working together, KACS’s new facility will provide the resources and services necessary to improve the lives of everyone in our community.”

KACS catalyzes the community – providing basic needs to stabilize households and individuals so that they can thrive – and appreciates the townships’ unwavering support for the care and concern of the community, both now and in the future.
