Your Gift will help Strengthen our Community

Pause for a moment! Before you embark on your holiday shopping spree, take a moment to consider the impact of your hard-earned money. When you choose the gift of donating to KACS in someone’s honor (or memory), rest assured that you’re contributing to the betterment of our community.

Your support shows what it means to love your neighbor – Jerry, his wife, and their daughter rent an apartment in Avondale. Earlier this year, Jerry’s wife gave birth to another daughter, but due to complications, they required an extended stay in the hospital. While they were in the hospital, Jerry was unable to work full time – resulting in lost wages. He came to KACS for rental assistance to allow them to stay in their home. The KACS Emergency Assistance Advocate conducted the intake and identified additional programs and resources for the young family. KACS approved rental assistance for the month, and helped them complete applications for utility assistance programs. For their new bundle of joy, we connected them to WIC and the Maternal and Child Health Consortium’s Family Center. We also helped them complete a pre-application for Head Start for their 4-year-old. Unfortunately, the father was then in a car accident and the car required repairs. KACS is continuing to work with the family to ensure they remain stably housed and their daughters have a safe place to call home.
