Direct Donations

Many of our generous donations are provided through Cash, Check, Online, and ACH. These are the simplest ways to support KACS Programs.

Fund Donations

These gifts increase the impact and value of your donation through employer matching or tax benefits.

Be sure to ask your employer if they match charitable donations! Many employers match an employee’s or spouse’s donation which can double or triple your impact.

Benefits of gifting Stock or Mutual Funds:

  • A charitable income tax deduction for the full value of the stock as of the date the gift is received by KACS
  • No capital gains tax applied to the appreciated value of the stock if it has been held for 12 months
  • Immediate use of the gift by KACS
  • Ability to provide a larger gift to KACS

To make a gift to KACS using your donor advised fund, contact your sponsoring organization and provide:

  • desired donation amount of gift
  • designation or purpose of your gift — such as area of greatest need, capital campaign, etc.

Use Your Traditional IRA to Make a “Tax-Free” Gift to KACS.

Donors 70½ and older can make a direct gift to KACS and avoid tax on the transfer using an IRA rollover.

Gifts up to $100,000 can be sent directly from your IRA to KACS, avoiding income tax charges on those funds.

Benefits:

  • Avoid taxes on transfers of up to $100,000 from your IRA directly to KACS.
  • Limit of $100,000 per person annually (collectively)
  • If you are 70.5 or older, the gift may satisfy your annual required minimum distribution.
  • Maximize the gift’s impact because all funds go to KACS tax-free.
  • Reduce your taxable income, even if you do not itemize deductions.
  • Not subject to the deduction limits on charitable gifts.

Please note:

  • Gifts must be made directly by the IRA administrator from the traditional IRA to the charity.
  • For tax purposes, the date of the gift is the date that your IRA administrator transfers the funds to the charity. In order for the gift to count in the current tax year, be sure to plan ahead.

Designating a gift to KACS in your will or trust is simple and costs you nothing during your lifetime.  Cash, securities, real estate, and tangible property can all be given through a bequest in your will or trust.
