Housing Remains at the Heart of KACS’ Mission

We believe that stable housing is essential to dignity, opportunity, and long-term well-being. When families have a safe and reliable place to call home, they are better able to focus on work, education, health, and building a brighter future.

In recent years, KACS established a Community Housing Initiative and achieved a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO) designation. This effort created opportunities for KACS to own and potentially develop affordable housing. Over time, we recognized that sustaining this role would require significant resources that could divert attention from other critical aspects of our mission. As part of our strategic planning process, we made the difficult decision to dissolve the Community Housing Initiative and relinquish the CHDO designation to focus on our core strengths and maximize our impact.

Housing continues to be a central priority for KACS in several important ways:

  • Our Social Services team provides emergency assistance and case management for neighbors facing eviction or experiencing homelessness.
  • Our Food Cupboard helps ease the financial burden of putting food on the table, allowing households to allocate resources toward other essential needs such as rent, medication, and transportation.
  • Our Community Education programs equip individuals and families with the knowledge, skills, and resources to reduce the risk of housing instability.
  • Our Housing Committee continues to advocate for policies, regulations, and development efforts that expand the availability of affordable, quality housing throughout Southern Chester County, along with the supportive services needed to sustain housing stability.

Our commitment to housing remains as strong as ever. We know that stable housing is one of the most important foundations for a thriving community.
